Mamdani's criticism was in response to an anti-Israel protest held on January 8 against a Nefesh B’Nefesh event aimed at providing information to those considering aliyah.

The IDF reported that, during investigations of the surrounding area, a vehicle with Israeli plates was found containing blunt weapons. The vehicle was confiscated by the district police.
